Memorial Day

In the United States, Memorial Day is a day on which those who died on active service are remembered, usually the last Monday in May. In the William Milton & Sarah Glenn (Hughes) Scholl family I can only think of a couple of family members who died during active service. There may be more but my software doesn’t allow me to search for specific items like this so I am going off of memory. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

Robert E. Funk

Robert E. Funk was born in 1904 and married Melba E. Maupin in St. Louis, Missouri in 1934. He was killed in 1944 in either a B-17 or B-24 crash. His son, Robert H., is not aware of all the details but believes his father was “burned up” in the crash. I have not been able to find any other information.

Rex Donel Bundy

Rex was born in 1948 in Seattle, Washington. He was the son of Pearl G. Scholl and Rex W. Bundy.  Rex D. married Andrea Rohr in August 1969 and was killed in Taiwan in October 1970.
