Roland Reese 1942 - 2009 Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home Roland Reese, 67 of Ridgecrest, passed away on July 5, 2009 at his home with his wife by his side, after a long courageous battle with leukemia. Roland was born on January 31, 1942 in Las Vegas Nevada. He was a 1960 graduate of Templeton High School and served his country in the US Marine Corps Reserve for 6 years. In 1976 Roland started his career as a PGA Golf Professional at Souris Valley Golf course in Minot, North Dakota. The following years he was the club pro at Anaconda Country Club in Montana, Morro Bay Golf Club, Chalk Mountain in Atascadero and Valle Grande Golf Course in Bakersfield. In September 2000 Roland was employed as the golf course manager at China Lake Golf Course, Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, CA, where he remained until his retirement in March 2009. "Ro the Pro" loved teaching golf and especially enjoyed holding junior golf clinics every summer. Throughout the years his junior programs have put young men and women in the position to play golf with skill. Roland was a PGA Life Member; all time single money winner at the Kern County Professional Skins Game; 2006 Ping Club Fitter of the Year and set 4 course records during his golfing career. Roland touched and blessed all who knew him. His sense of humor and willingness to help and encourage family and friends shall be cherished in all of our hearts for eternity. He is Survived by his wife, Roberta, the love of his life for 39 years. (Second to golf!)
